Job Description
We are seeking an Automation Specialist to ensure compliance with integrated Food Safety, Quality, Occupational Health, and Environmental standards. This role is crucial for maintaining calibration programs and instrumentation in line with company quality benchmarks and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will provide technical support to the manufacturing department, assisting in troubleshooting instrumentation, calibrations, and automation issues, while collaborating with project engineers on related initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update the calibration program according to company quality standards and relevant ISO regulations.
  • Provide technical assistance in automation to the manufacturing department.
  • Configure and program control systems, including HMI, VFD, PLC, sensors, transmitters, and servo drives.
  • Ensure that control systems and instruments comply with the company's quality standards.
  • Conduct verification of process equipment covered by the calibration program.
  • Coordinate external calibrations of equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of instruments included in the calibration program.
  • Assist in project initiatives related to instrumentation and calibrations.
  • Facilitate meetings with contractors and suppliers for project planning and equipment acquisition.
  • Support internal and external audits related to the calibration program.
  • Evaluate spare parts related to automation and control systems.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and maintain clear communication with contractors.
  • Perform any other tasks related to the position as required.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on controls or related experience in instrumentation or electrical technician roles.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in instrumentation, automation, or a similar position.
  • Availability to work weekends, overtime, holidays, and rotating shifts.
  • Proficiency in ProCal Calibration Management Software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Strong knowledge of process control, continuous control systems, and associated instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with programmable controllers such as Rockwell Automation Control Logix, SLC 500, PLC 5, Siemens S5, and Siemens S7.
  • Basic understanding of programming languages for control systems.
