Job Summary:

As a Personal Injury Legal Assistant, you will provide crucial support to attorneys specializing in personal injury law. Your responsibilities will include managing case files, communicating with clients and insurance companies, conducting legal research, and preparing legal documents. You will play a key role in ensuring efficient workflow and client satisfaction throughout the legal process.

Responsibilities:

  1. Case Management:

    • Assist attorneys in managing personal injury case files from inception to resolution.
    • Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files, ensuring all documents are accurately labeled and filed appropriately.
    • Monitor case deadlines and ensure timely completion of tasks.
  2. Client Communication:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing updates on case progress and addressing inquiries.
    • Coordinate client meetings, appointments, and depositions.
    • Gather relevant information from clients and maintain clear communication channels throughout the legal process.
  3. Document Preparation:

    • Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and correspondence.
    • Review and proofread legal documents for accuracy and completeness.
    • Assist with document filing and electronic filing systems as required by court rules.
  4. Legal Research:

    • Conduct legal research using various resources to support attorneys in case preparation and strategy.
    • Summarize and analyze legal documents, statutes, regulations, and case law.
    • Prepare summaries and memoranda on legal issues as assigned.
  5. Administrative Support:

    • Provide administrative support to attorneys, including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and making travel arrangements.
    • Prepare expense reports, track billable hours, and assist with billing tasks.
    • Coordinate with other staff members to ensure smooth office operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Previous experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, with specific experience in personal injury law preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software applications.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation and data entry.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
