Job Description:
As a Collections & Foreclosure Paralegal, you will play a vital role in assisting attorneys with all aspects of collections and foreclosure proceedings. You will be responsible for managing case files, conducting legal research, and preparing legal documents related to debt collection and foreclosure matters. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of legal procedures in collections and foreclosure law.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist attorneys in preparing and filing legal documents for collections and foreclosure proceedings, including complaints, motions, and affidavits.
  • Conduct legal research on relevant statutes, regulations, and case law to support legal arguments and strategies.
  • Communicate with clients, debtors, and other parties involved in collections and foreclosure cases to gather information and provide updates on case status.
  • Prepare correspondence, letters, and settlement agreements on behalf of attorneys.
  • Maintain accurate and organized case files, including electronic and physical records.
  • Coordinate with court personnel, process servers, and other legal professionals to schedule hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing pleadings, discovery requests, and other legal documents.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for court hearings, trials, and mediations.
  • Monitor deadlines and calendar appointments to ensure timely filing of legal documents and compliance with court rules and procedures.
  • Stay current with changes in collections and foreclosure law and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working as a paralegal in collections and foreclosure law.
  • Knowledge of legal principles and procedures related to debt collection, foreclosure, and bankruptcy.
  • Proficiency in using legal research tools such as LexisNexis or Westlaw.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite and legal case management software.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Prior experience working in a law firm specializing in collections and foreclosure law is preferred.
